Database Administrator (DBA)

Job Description: As a Database Administrator at SMDB, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our organization’s databases to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Installing, configuring, and upgrading database software and related components, including database management systems (DBMS) such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server
  • Creating and maintaining database schemas, tables, indexes, and views based on application requirements and performance considerations
  • Monitoring database performance, capacity, and availability to identify and address issues proactively
  • Performing regular backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability
  • Implementing and enforcing security measures, access controls, and data encryption to protect sensitive information from unauthorized access or breaches
  • Troubleshooting database-related problems and coordinating with internal teams or vendors to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Documenting database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and compliance purposes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Proven experience working as a Database Administrator or in a similar role, with hands-on experience managing databases in a production environment
  • In-depth knowledge of database management systems (DBMS), database design principles, and SQL query optimization techniques
  • Proficiency in database administration tasks such as installation, configuration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and security management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator) preferred
